General

Contributions to Orissa Journal of Physics are welcomed from throughout the world. Papers previously published cannot be accepted for the journal and papers submitted to and accepted by Orissa Journal of Physics should not be published elsewhere. The submitted manuscripts must be free from plagiarism. The author or the corresponding author of a multi-authored paper is required to complete, sign and send the Publication Authorization and Copyright Transfer (PACT) form to the Editorial office.

The manuscripts must be prepared neatly and concisely in English. The typed text should be prepared using Times Roman / CG Times 12 point font.

Guidelines for Manuscript Preparation

Title Page

The first page must bear:

  1. Title of the manuscript
  2. The names of the authors
  3. Names and addresses of the institutions where the work was carried out
  4. The permanent or present addresses of the authors
  5. Corresponding author should be specially earmarked with a superscripted dagger ‘†’ symbol.
  6. The Physics and Astronomy Classification Scheme (PACS) Number for the manuscript

The submitted manuscript should have an abbreviated running title of not more than 50 characters including spaces. The title should be specific and contain words useful for indexing.

Abstract

All papers must have an abstract of not more than 200 words. The abstract should be comprehensive to readers before they read the paper and abbreviations and reference citations should be avoided. It should indicate the general scope of the paper, the important findings, and the conclusions drawn.

Keywords

Between 3 and 6 keywords must be provided for indexing and information retrieval services.

PACS Numbers

Provide at least three and up to four PACS numbers with the first number being the most appropriate (e.g. 12.27 Vf). Use PACS 2006 version.

Text

The manuscript must be divided into sections, preferably starting with ‘Introduction’ and ending with ‘Conclusions’. Main sections should be numbered in Arabic numerals (1, 2, 3...) and subsections as 2.1, 2.2, etc.

Mathematical Material

Equations must be clearly written, each on its own line, away from the text. All equations must be numbered consecutively in Arabic numerals with the number in parentheses near the right-hand margin.

Tables

All tables must be numbered consecutively (e.g. Table 3). Tables should be self-explanatory with a brief descriptive title. Column headings should be brief and bold-faced. Footnotes should be identified by superscript symbols and placed at the bottom of the page containing the table.

Figures

All figures, including photographs (glossy prints), should be numbered consecutively. Figure parts should use lowercase letters (a, b, c). Figure captions should be concise and typed on a separate sheet.

Curves should be thick enough to remain legible after reduction. Lettering size should remain consistent (2–3 mm or 8–12 pt). Avoid shading effects and preferably use Helvetica or Arial fonts. Use symbols such as ○ ● □ ■ Δ ▲ ▼ ◊ ♦ ☼ Ж in line drawings. Halftone figures should have a minimum 300 dpi resolution.

Electronic Figure Submission

  • Figures in electronic/soft form are preferred.
  • For vector graphics, use eps or ps; for halftones, use TIFF. MS Office files are acceptable.
  • Vector graphics must have embedded fonts.
  • Figure files should be named like Fig1.eps.

Footnotes

Use of footnotes in the text should be avoided.

References

References should be cited in the text using consecutive numerals inside square brackets. The list should appear at the end of the article.
